A Place of Industry Begins
The historic Alphington Paper Mill opens, becoming a defining presence along the Yarra River and a cornerstone of Victoria's manufacturing history.
The End of an Era
After 90 years of operation, the Paper Mill ceases production, marking the close of a significant chapter in the site's industrial history.
A Vision Takes Shape
Len's vision for YarraBend begins on a long-haul flight between Melbourne and Paris, where the first masterplan ideas are sketched before an offer is made on the land.
Glenvill acquires the Paper Mill site.

Photographer Andrew Curtis is commissioned to capture the Paper Mill site ahead of demolition and remediation.
The Vision is Approved
The Development Plan for YarraBend is unanimously approved by local council, formally establishing the vision for a new mixed-use riverside neighbourhood.
YarraBend Launches
YarraBend's first Display Suite opens on Heidelberg Road, marking the public launch of the neighbourhood.
Parkview Houses establish YarraBend as the 'world's first Tesla Town', with Tesla Powerwalls included as standard in every home.
Townhouse Sell Out
Parkview Townhouses launch, with all 55 residences sold in a single morning.
Rone's Alpha & Omega Projects
Rone’s Alpha Project, set within the soon-to-be-demolished Alphington Paper Mill, explored themes of beauty and decay through a series of temporary murals. As demolition unfolded in Melbourne’s inner north, he transformed the site’s last weatherboard cottage into The Omega Project—a haunting installation fusing nostalgic Australian interiors with his signature portraits.
Parkview Apartments Launch
A key milestone for YarraBend, marking the precinct's first apartment offering.
YarraBend opens its Display Suite on Parkview Road
A four-level destination spanning more than 1,000sqm and one of the largest of its kind. Designed as an immersive experience, the space includes a mirrored garden, art gallery, theatre, full-floor sales suite and multiple display residences.
YarraBend Brand Launch and Record Mills Townhouse Sell-Out
YarraBend's brand launch is held at the new Display Suite, hosted by Hamish McLachlan with guests including the Hon. Minister D'Ambrosio and international trend forecaster Barry Mowszowski.
The Mills Townhouses launch soon after, with the first two stages selling out in under three hours.
The First Residents Arrive
Parkview Houses and Townhouses are completed by Glenvill Homes and Glenvill Projects, marking the arrival of YarraBend's first residents. 129 families now call the neighbourhood home.
